Bush Flip-Flop on Osama Bin-Laden
Joel Connelly has an excellent article on Bush-Cheney flip flops including this zinger:
Two days after 9/11, President Bush declared: "The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our No. 1 priority, and we will not rest until we find him."Six months later, laying political groundwork for the Iraq war, the president said: "I don't know where he is. I have no idea and I really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
The only criticism I have of the article is it doesn't reflect the fair argument that post-9/11 thinking needed to be different than pre-9/11 thinking e.g. it's not fair to compare the Gulf War directly to Iraq.
However, Bush-Cheney will be condemned historically for intellectual dishonesty especially their efforts to link Osama Bin-Laden and Sadaam Hussein in the public mind.

I can't be the only one who believes that a 'flip-flop' would be going in the opposite direction of what you'd done in the past, vs. changing the direction from one goal to another. "Actually, I voted for it, before I voted against it." vs. 'PersonX was top priority, now PersonY is top priority.'

The first quote is fictious, the second one is taken out of context
