CrystalTech Customer Service Sucks
Why are all Web hosts so terrible at offering good customer service? Why do they have to hire zombies who lecture technologists on what we're doing wrong with their services? No one at CrystalTech actually wants to know if there is something wrong with their service. Even when presented with a clear error message, they lecture you on how shared servers work and that it must be your code...even if your code has been running flawlessly for two years...they keep lecturing you. CrystalTech has literally set up a wall of people designed not to help you. This sucks. And they have the resources to do much better. It's too bad they've taken the company in such a negative direction.

I could not agree more! CT tech support was top notch a couple years ago..now anytime I encounter a problem they find ways not to help...and really irritate me in the process.

Check out HostMySite.com. Met them at a tradeshow and switched and have been happy with it. Similar plans to CT but better support.

Its true. I am facing a lot of issues with them now. Their security system sucks. They wont let me send emails with PHP.

I agree crystaltech sucks I had many sites with them at one point. Now I use HostMySite and downtownhost

I have a 2GB storage hosting plan for $8.95/month. Went 500 MB over in disk storage space (for a total of 2.5GB storage) for one (1) month and then removed excess files. Was charge $60 for 500 MB disk space! This feels like credit card or bank fee milking, and is apparently a huge cash cow for them. I'm not happy that I was used in this way just to keep them fed. I will be leaving CT presently.

I cannot tell you the horror experience I am having with Crystaltech and Newtek right now. They keep hanging up on me. My e-mail won't send or receive and I've tried everything on the settings through SmarterMail. It appears that one of their techs set up an account on my server that doesn't show up in server admin and that account has set the spam filter too restrictive and it's deleting my e-mail.
I was on the phone for two hours yesterday and two hours today and they keep hanging up and it's a 45 minute wait to talk to someone and then they are so stupid they hang up when they try to take the call and you have to start over again.
CrystalTech and Newtek provide the worst web hosting in the whole world. CrystalTech web hosting is really awful. CrystalTech ruined my whole weekend with rude call agents and hang ups and long hold times. I didn't even get to hang out with my daughter this weekend because of these problems and they can't fix them and won't even try. CrystalTech is horrible.

I am planning to leave too, server restarts frequently even in semi-dedicated. move to semi-dedicated was botched up two times, ssl was not moved properly. Have lost thousands of dollars in revenues due to these guys and they wont let me try dedicated for free for 6 months for all the losses they have caused me. Thinking of could dedicated at rackspace.

I have been with hostmysite (now hosting.com) for many years. I can't tell you how many issues they have had since hostmysite was acquired by hosting.com. Their focus has changed to dedicated servers from shared hosting
